The UHMWPE possesses a low coefficient of friction which provides a smooth sliding surface for the vessel to travel along the fender face. UHMWPE fender panel have many properties like light weight, impact resistance, wear resistance, corrosion resistance UV resistance, aging resistance, small coefficient of friction. It's impact strength is 20 times of PVC, 10 times of nylon 66, 8 times of PTFE.

UHMWPE has a very low coefficient of friction (0.05-0.11), so that it has a very good self-lubrication.
